"IFTomatoes has come a long way in the 7 months since its birth. The whole concept at the beginning was, quite frankly, strange."

[edit] The Name
It went something like this. Certain InvisionFree members were complaining about a large board entering their Battle of the Boards competition. Aka Tolken said, "Well, if a board can be kicked out for being too large, I should make a board called IF Tomatoes and then I will be disqualified too for having a strange name", or something to that effect. Spurius said that he "really should". He did.
[edit] InvisionFree: Server 2
IFTomatoes' birth was on server 2, with just Aka Tolken as staff. Regular visitors were Denver Solid and Far Side. There were two skins available, Greytallic and Trystan, and a seriously cool *default* skin with strange board markers, which were in fact rotten tomatoes.
[edit] InvisionFree: Server 3
Duffman, the only InvisionFree coder, made a mistake. Server 2 crashed and all of IFTomatoes' previous data was destroyed. There was no way to get anything back, as Aka Tolken had changed the name and could not remember what the old name was, and that was the only way to find it again. It is still out there, somewhere.
IFTomatoes moved on to Server 3 as soon as they were able to. IFTomatoes was one of the first server 3 boards, most probably the second or third. S3 became a good home for IFT.
[edit] InvisionFree: Battle of the Boards
It was only right that IFT entered the second one, after all, the first helped give birth to IFTomatoes. The competition was extremely enjoyable. Against most odds IFTomatoes thrashed InvisionFree Skining (typo intended) in Group E. Click here to view a screen shot of the votes.

[edit] Break From InvisionFree
IFTomatoes moved on from InvisionFree to Invision Power Board, which they were able to host themselves, for a number of reasons. One of the main being the limitations of providing InvisionFree resources. On 25th April 2004 "Invision Forum Tomatoes" was opened, with a new domain name (iftomatoes.com), new skin, and new website.
"We [Aka Tolken and Spurius] just happend to be the two most ambitious people at InvisionFree at that time. We were lucky we managed to cross paths, as neither of us would have been able to find a partner who wanted the exact same thing we both wanted, and who would do anything to get it; success."
